Summary
In this talk, Alisha will explore how a whole‑systems approach can advance digital health equity, drawing on recent developments and initiatives in Wales. She will look ahead to emerging digital technologies and their potential impact on population health and equity.
Alisha will also highlight the opportunities created through the newly designated World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Digital Health Equity, which she leads within the Research, Data and Digital Directorate at Public Health Wales.
Speaker’s bio
Alisha Davies is Deputy Director of Research, Data and Digital at Public Health Wales and leads the WHO Collaborating Centre for Digital Health Equity. She provides strategic leadership in public health, across research, data and digital innovation, to improve population health and reduce inequalities. Alisha oversees national research and evaluation programmes, leading high performing teams, securing grant income and working across sectors to harness linked data and social sciences for public good.
She is internationally recognised for advancing digital health equity, co-chairs the Faculty of Public Health AI and Digital Health Group and the Alan Turing Institute Clinical AI Group, and previously was the Health Lead within the AI for Science and Government programme, in The Alan Turing Institute.
An NHS Consultant in Public Health, Alisha holds a PhD in epidemiology, and MSc in demography from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and an Honorary Professorship at Swansea University. Her career spans over 25 years across NHS, government, academia, and policy, with a strong track record in shaping strategy and delivering impact.
