Diana Bright

Summary

In this talk, Diana will explore how a whole‑systems approach can advance digital health equity, drawing on recent developments and initiatives in Wales. She will look ahead to emerging digital technologies and their potential impact on population health and equity. Diana will also highlight the opportunities created through the newly designated World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Digital Health Equity, which she leads within the Research, Data and Digital Directorate at Public Health Wales.

Speaker’s bio

Diana Bright is the Public Health Evaluation Lead for Digital Health at Public Health Wales, where she leads a NIHR-research programme on digital exclusion and health inequalities. Her work focuses on understanding how digital technologies can be designed, implemented, and evaluated to improve population health outcomes while addressing challenges that prevent everyone from benefiting equally from digital health.

She holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham and an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health from the University of Bristol. Diana’s recent work includes two WHO Europe–commissioned scoping reviews on digital health equity: one examining inequities in digital health technologies across the European Region and another focused on equity across the regulation, implementation and evaluation of digital health (currently in progress), as well as findings from a cross‑sectional, nationally representative survey on how people in Wales use the internet and digital technology to manage their health.
